So, as some of you may have noticed, we have been toying around with adding the Anubis software to our web stack. This seems to have went over pretty well once we got things smoothed out with our WordPress instance. We are looking at going ahead and setting this up to sit in front of our other hosted sites as well, adding a little bit of bot protection across the sites that we host.

Something else that is being worked on is that FurrIX has been put into motion with restoring our network monitoring solution, LibreNMS. This will give our team very detailed insight to how our network is used, data usage accounting for end users, server load and more. This used to be setup, but the network migration broke a lot of it and we are having to restore it.

Something that we will be adding to the website is a page that allows our users and visitors to take a glance at our network throughput on a per router basis. Just more stats and toys for the geeks, really.

Our support and abuse contact addresses exist for one reason: to handle legitimate technical issues, service problems, and policy violation reports so Marbled Fennec Networks (MFN) and FurrIX remain safe, functional, and welcoming.

Recently, these channels were used for purposes they are not intended for — including sending threatening and manipulative messages to volunteer staff in an attempt to influence moderation decisions.

This violates the current MFN Terms of Service, which already prohibit:

• Harassment, intimidation, or targeted personal attacks toward members or staff.
• Misrepresentation of rules or policy to undermine enforcement.
• Using official communication lines for anything outside their intended purpose.

We’re in the process of updating our Terms of Service to make these expectations even clearer — complete with short, plain-language explanations under every section — so there’s no room for “creative interpretation.”

To be clear:

• Support and abuse contacts are not for personal disputes or retaliation.
• Any misuse of these channels will be fully documented from start to finish, including all metadata.
• Such behavior will result in immediate and permanent bans, with possible escalation to relevant authorities and internet safety boards.

Our volunteers work hard to keep this community safe and functional. Misusing the tools meant for safety and service undermines that work and wastes resources that could be helping people with real problems.

So let’s keep these channels for their intended purpose: fixing problems, not creating them.
Because if you really want to get our attention, opening a polite support ticket will always work better than firing off your 17-paragraph audition for “Most Dramatic Email of the Year,” complete with plot twists, villains, and an imaginary award speech.

Hello everyone,

I’m Kyru, part of the Network Operations Center and Community Safety crew, as well as a project member using MFN’s services in my own homelab. Normally, I don’t get involved in the day-to-day running of Marbled Fennec Networks or FurrIX, but something came through our abuse and support inboxes that I feel needs to be addressed.

Recently, there’s been a misunderstanding about our community safety guidelines in the Terms of Service, specifically the clause that states:

>“Be conscious of your well-being…”

This statement does exist in our ToS, but it sits within the community guidelines for participants in MFN/ROA digital spaces—not as an obligation for operators or administrators. It exists to remind members, guests, and event participants to look after their own health (hydration, breaks, etc.) during activities, especially in VR. The only time it’s enforced is when someone shows wanton, flagrant, or repeated disregard for their own safety in a way that demands staff intervention.

In other words: it’s a behavioral rule for attendees, not a standard the owner or staff can “violate” while operating the service. The claim that it applies to operator conduct is simply a misinterpretation taken out of context.

The well-being clause is there to ensure that all members, especially vulnerable ones, are safe and cared for in our spaces. It is not a standard someone can breach by neglecting their own health outside of MFN/RoA events. Our volunteers—including Project Deco’s Safety Officer—enforce this rule in its intended context: protecting the community, without bias.

Looking ahead, Project Deco will be working with MFN and FurrIX volunteers to restructure our Terms of Service so they are clearer and easier to read. The updated format will include:

• A direct, accurate section for each rule.
• A short “Plain English” explanation under each section so members, guests, and users can easily understand it.
• Specific clarifications that reflect how we actually operate, moderate, and protect our network, provided services, digital spaces, communications, and hosted events.

We recognize that the current ToS can feel vague in places. Our goal with this update is to remove that vagueness, close loopholes, and make it as clear and unambiguous as possible for everyone.
