This document outlines a good-faith, non-binding agreement between
FurrIX Virtual Internet Exchange (“FurrIX”) and Marbled Fennec Networks (“MFN”) regarding their separation into independent projects while continuing to cooperate for mutual benefit. This is a hobby-level understanding intended to guide expectations, not a formal legal contract.
1. Purpose
FurrIX and MFN are separating into independent projects with different goals, while maintaining a cooperative relationship to support continued operation and growth of both.
- FurrIX will operate as a community, hobby-level virtual internet exchange
focused on:- Network design and upkeep
- IPv6 tunnel brokering
- IP transit service
- Name server operations
- Network peering
- Operating a community guided virtual internet exchange
- MFN will transition into a community service provider focused on:
- Game hosting
- Email hosting
- Web hosting
2. Leadership & Ownership
- Ty Dwagon becomes the sole owner and operator of Marbled Fennec Networks
- Adrian departs MFN to found and operate FurrIX
- FurrIX will establish its own governance structure, including a separate board
- FurrIX is no longer subject to MFN policies, governance, or operational control
- Marbled Fennec Networks becomes a semi-permanent network tenant until 2028
- FurrIX operates the ‘Maows.Gay’ service on MFN’s behalf for two years
3. Financial Support
- MFN agrees to provide full financial backing to FurrIX until January 20th, 2028
- This support is provided in good faith to ensure stability during the transition period
- No long-term obligation exists beyond this date unless separately agreed
- This funding agreement is to ensure that FurrIX is able to provide and maintain
network services for Marbled Fennec Networks’ game services and websites
4. Infrastructure & Asset Transfer
FurrIX assumes responsibility for core network infrastructure:
- Full operational control of:
- IPv6 allocations:
2602:f992:f3::/482602:f992:e0::/44
- IPv6 allocations:
- Responsibility for administration, routing, and upkeep of these subnets
- Control of existing MFN name servers, including:
- Continued operation during transition
- Future migration to the furrix.zone domain
- Control of physical servers previously operated by MFN, including:
- Hypervisor management
- Network-related virtual machines
FurrIX will maintain and operate these systems going forward.
Marbled Fennec Networks will retain control of the IPv6 /48 provided, 2604:4300:f03::/48,
by the data center. MFN will be able to submit configuration for this subnets as needed
for FurrIX to setup and deploy extra networking if desired.
5. Network Roles & Responsibilities
- FurrIX will operate as a standalone virtual internet exchange, offering:
- IPv6 routed subnets
- IP transit over WireGuard
- FurrIX agrees to act as a neutral data carrier, not prioritizing or discriminating against traffic crossing its network
- MFN transitions from infrastructure provider to network tenant on FurrIX
6. Peering & Connectivity
- MFN and FurrIX will maintain private internal BGP peering
- This allows MFN to:
- Receive network services
- Maintain internet connectivity via FurrIX
This arrangement is based on mutual benefit. MFN has negotiated in good faith for no
monthly data cap on transit to or from its hosted services as well as limited technical support
from FurrIX in exchange for financial backing of FurrIX.
7. Services & Operational Boundaries
- MFN retains full control and responsibility for:
- Game hosting virtual machines
- Application-level services
- FurrIX staff:
- Will not provide support for MFN service workloads outside of OS installs,
basic system updates, network changes, initial VM configuration or similar
task within the same limited scope. - Will only maintain underlying infrastructure (hardware, hypervisor, network)
- Will not provide support for MFN service workloads outside of OS installs,
8. IPv6 Tunnel Service
- MFN will continue offering a single-device, single-user IPv6 tunnel service
- This service will be:
- Operated and maintained by FurrIX
- Provided on behalf of MFN
- Supported directly by MFN
9. Support Systems
- MFN will continue to operate end-user support systems for both projects:
- Until the end of the funding period (January 20th, 2028), or
- Until FurrIX deploys its own independent support systems
10. Shared Infrastructure
- Both projects will coexist on shared physical hardware
- FurrIX is responsible for:
- Hardware upkeep
- Core infrastructure stability
- Network Upkeep, design and deployment
- MFN operates as a tenant within that environment providing:
- Game hosting services
- Limited VPS services
- eMail and web services
11. Nature of Agreement
- This is a mutual, good-faith, hobby-level agreement
- It is:
- Settlement-free (funding actually comes from the same source)
- Based on cooperation and shared benefit
- Intended to support the long-term survival of both projects
Either party may revisit or revise this agreement as circumstances change.
12. Closing Understanding
FurrIX and Marbled Fennec Networks agree to operate independently while maintaining a cooperative relationship built on trust, technical collaboration, and shared infrastructure.
Both parties acknowledge the informal nature of this agreement and commit to working together in good faith.
