Moderation of digital spaces associated with ROA (Remains of Avaluix), Marbled Fennec Networks – (Pertaining to digital gathering and communication environments)
The volunteers that work within Marbled Fennec Networks may, from time to time, decide to host what we call digital gathering environments or digital spaces. The spaces are meant for our members, friends and friends of friends to gather and enjoy one another’s company for socialization, collaboration and recreation. Our operators and members here are bound to a set of expectations that we will all abide by to keep each other safe and hold ourselves and others accountable when in our digital spaces. We have safety policies and behavior expectations in place for our digital spaces and events that ensure our members, their friends and guest have the safest and most enjoyable experience possible.
As a digital community primarily present within Discord communities and virtual reality instances, we expect our members, their friends and guest to understand and practice consent. We expect and require open, honest and clear communication about wants, needs, and boundaries that will help to ensure that all parties are fully aware of whats going on and that proper consent for any event, interaction or scene has been obtained prior to engaging.
- All members, their friends and guest must be 18+ years of age to be within our digital spaces. Our volunteers will process age verification on every new member, friend or guest that joins our digital spaces. Failure to verify will result in removal and a non-appealable ban from our digital spaces.
- Consent is absolutely required – This is non-negotiable and all engaged individuals must provide consent to be interacted with or included in an event, interaction or scene.
- No means No—If someone tells you they do not wish to interact or be part of a scene or event, take being told ‘no’ gracefully and respectfully or go home. Full stop.
- Unwanted attention and touch is not okay– This includes comments on bodies, virtual and physical touch, unwelcome use of haptics or similar feedback methods, sexual harassment, sexual remarks, and objectification.
- Consent must be continuous, and can be revoked at any time for any reason– Check in often with you subs, doms, friends or guest; especially when actions and risk escalate, or type of event, scene or interact are evolving or changing.
- You must obtain consent before capturing photos or recordings of others– The mental and emotional safety must be considered for all members, their friends and guest in all interactions, events and scenes; especially in situations involving sexual acts, adult role play, or other forms of adult play without our hosted digital spaces.
- Consent cannot be fully given when there is indecision or when someone is in an altered state.
- Consent is not valid when obtained through coercion or persistent pressure.
- Consent is not valid when there are radical power imbalances that would put one or more parties at a disadvantage, make them uncomfortable or otherwise not meet our guidelines.
We have a baseline of expected behavior in our digital spaces, this includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- You will ensure consent. Consent is supported by our whole community. You are obligated to get someone’s consent before any form of interaction, inclusion into a scene or event. In situations within our digital spaces, always ask first and respect the response you are given. ROA, Marbled Fennec Networks and FurrIX all employ a zero-tolerance policy and bans given for violating this are non-appealable.
- You will be considerate and respectful of fellow participants and the community around our digital spaces at all times. We strive to keep everyone feeling comfortable, respected and safe.
- You will refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing or violent behavior. ROA, Marbled Fennec Networks and FurrIX all employ a zero-tolerance policy and bans given for violating this are non-appealable.
- You will be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow members safety and comfort. Read the room and try to blend into what is currently ongoing. Do not upset the balance of things around you.
- Be conscious of your well-being and aware of your own needs- especially in virtual reality events and spaces where food, hydration and rest breaks are much needed. Stay on top of your health.
We strive to keep our digital spaces safe and comfortable for all of our members, their friends and guest. There are behaviors that we will not tolerate and will issue bans for. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Predatory behavior, defined as any unwanted and non-consensual form of any of the following: intimidation, harassment, coercive behavior, any form of stalking, verbal communications abuse, and violence against others.
- Discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, age, family status, marital status, or religion.
- Non-consensual contact, including, but not limited to, unwelcome sexual interaction or comments.
- Disrespecting the host community, our members, their friends and guest surrounding our digital spaces.
- Wanton, flagrant, or repeated disregard for one’s own safety or well-being in a manner that demands the intervention of ROA or MFN staff, our members or volunteers. Some of our events and digital spaces require that our members, and their friends and guest, have safeties and self-agency. Failure to maintain a safe environment or creating unsafe scenarios will not be tolerated what so ever.
- Abuse is not tolerated. This includes verbal abuse, demeaning, degrading or oppressive comments, stalking, threatening or bullying, marginalization, deliberate intimidation, extortion, disrupting/disrespecting our members and their friends or guest, our volunteers, and harassing or mistreating others.
- Repeated or egregious violations of any and all policies put in effect by ROA staff.
Handling of Unacceptable Behavior
Behavior that goes against our polices as described above will not be tolerated in or outside of our digital spaces. Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to do so immediately. Remains of Avaluix and Marbled Fennec Networks may take any action they deem appropriate to ensure the safety of our digital spaces and our members, their friends and guest. This action may include expulsion and exclusion from our digital spaces without the possibility of appeal.
ROA and MFN staff and our volunteers uphold the safety and comfort of our members, their friends and guest, without our digital spaces as our top priority at all times. Breaking our community guidelines will result in guideline reminders, warnings and exclusion from our digital spaces if the unacceptable behavior continues.
What to do if you witness or are subject to unacceptable behavior:
If you believe that you or anyone else is being subjected to any unacceptable behavior, as outlined in our guidelines or otherwise, follow these steps:
- Speak up. Say ‘No’ and ask them to stop.
- If you feel unsafe, leave the situation and locate a member of ROA staff and let them know right away what is going on.
- Disengage from the situation and allow staff to handle things.
Bans given to individuals from the staff or volunteers Remains of Avaluix, Marbled Fennec Networks are non-appealable:
What this means is that if an individual becomes banned from our digital spaces- our staff and volunteers have exhausted their means to correct the situation and are issue the ban to protect the integrity, safety and well being of our digital spaces, our members, friends and guest.
Our staff will make effort to educate, correct and keep situations safe for everyone. But sometimes, people don’t change their behavior and we have to issue bans. If an individual catches a ban, they have performed an action that has resulted in their exclusion from our digital spaces and they will not be welcome back.
Bans are final and we will not accept appeal request as they are our last ditch effort to protect our community. Bans are never used as the first wave of correctional defense in our spaces.
